What is a system?
A system can be thought of as a multitude of resources and processes which collectively work and interact together in order to achieve an outcome, result or purpose. For a system to effectively work, it requires distinct elements that are able to respond with each other. These main components surrounding a system include, Environment, System, Purpose, Processes and Resources.
What is an information system?
The use of systems can be applied in many connotations and operations in ordinary life but an information system specifically refers to the process of turning data into information. Information systems share the same components as a common system but also have its own subcategories.
Social and Ethical Issues
As we all live together in a society there are unwritten, shared morals which are involved in how we all go about living our lives. These are known as ethics. Several ethics have translated into legislation however the majority remain as principles which are understood by society and influence the conduct of its members. In the development of Information Systems, there are a number of social and ethical issues which should be considered as they could damage society in a plethora of ways if overlooked and neglected.
